From Amherst, Massachusetts the American alternative rock music scene received one of its best bands, Dinosaur Jr., formerly called Dinosaur. Formed in 1983, Dinosaur Jr. would be a major influence on the entire grunge scene that would follow years later, with its distortion-rich sound, guitar solos and the singing style of band leader, guitarist and singer J Mascis.
